The Ice Storm of 2009

We suffered an ice storm of Mega proportion on January 26th 2009.  Owensboro was without power on the 27th, but was able to keep open from the 28th on as power did return.  However, our employees were still without power or heat.  Our Pharmacist Keith Arnold, Donna, Wendi, Amy, and the rest of the gang was able to keep us up and running and when the rest of us could finally communicate with them on the 30th, they helped us look up profiles when needed.   They really helped the rest of us out.  At Livermore, we were without regular power for 11 days.  However, we were only closed the 27th, the next day we did everything manually.  The next day we were able to get a generator going which allowed us to work on our computers but without heat on some very cold days.  Amy, Angela, Allison, and Jenna really helped to keep things running as smooth as we could.  Amy, Allison even helped the IGA move their food to help preserve it.  In Central City, we were without regular power for nearly 7 days.  This crew didn't miss a day.  They worked without heat and light for 2 days then we finally got a generator to run the computers.  They operated by "Drive-thru only" for security reasons.  Our Pharmacist Holly Barber, Debby, Laura, Missy, Amy, Elva, Christy, and Beverly worked tirelessly and patiently to make sure every person who came by could be taken care of.  We even had our General Manager Bob Wedding and our CFO Lisa Poole "car-hopping" to help speed up the process for our customers.  Our number one Car-hop, Security Guard, and Electrician was Jarrod Barber.  I truly could not have gotten through this ordeal without this extremely giving person.

I wish to thank all of my employees for their hard work during this crisis.  We truly could not have served our areas and made it through without you.  Keep in mind, all of our employees left homes without power, heat, and some without water and food to come into work and serve the area's people in need.  I cannot thank my employees enough for the privelege I have of working with so many truly gracious people.

Sincerely,

Ron Poole
